The Waltzing Weasel- pub

Yes another pub night.... but this is different - a quick trip to the driving range that is right beside this little watering hole. yep you heard it. This pub deserves to be recognized for several reasons.
#1 you work off the frustrations of the day at either the mini putt or the driving range (guys this is a cute date night idea)
#2 it has a great patio!
#3 if you go there enough you will start to run into the friendliest people in London.
The food is great, the service is always friendly and you get to relax and just enjoy the social atmosphere.
We really like this pub because no one is ever dressed up to go there. Every expects you to come in your cargo shorts and some tshirt you cut the grass in. It is really a "No worries" atmosphere.
All in all a great great place to have a pint and enjoy.

Becoming a Regular 101- pub fare eating

Have you ever been a regular?
32 and I are. Boston Pizza- The Wellington street Location.
it's absolutely our favorite place to eat. I know I know.... you're saying "Boston Pizza? Really isn't that a family place? lots of kids."
To that I say NO but also caution you to ALWAYS, ALWAYS sit in the Lounge.

We call the restaurant side "the other side."  It is full of families and screaming children. Great if you have kids! they have an amazing kids menu and are always very patient but if you don't care to talk baby talk during dinner please visit the Bar on the other side of the wall.
This is where you will find some of best servers and bartenders we've found in London.
"What?" you might ask constitutes a good server and/or bartender in our opinion? Let me give you a picture - you walk in to smiles and your regular drink order is on the table before you have to ask.
If you're anything like me you will change and switch everything in your order aka " Greek salad no dressing, shrimp skewer plain with no salt." They have ever got it wrong, and I change everything!
Another example of this great service-- our regular server was chatting with us. 32 stated that he was going on low to no carbs in order to get ready for summer. The nest time we were in the server didn't bring him a beer right away until he confirmed that he was okay with "beer carbs" We laughed. of course "beer carbs don't count" and the beer was on the table.

This to us means good service and therefore when we don't feel like cooking this is where we head. Good food (you can and switch anything!) good service. Period.

Braise Food and Wine

Braise- AMAZING!

We went here on 32's birthday last night. the food was amazing fine dining. the prices are reasonable and the most important part is the service. The service you will find here is top shelf. I have not been to a restaurant in London yet that s comparable in service. they have a fabulous sommolier that will assist you to pick your wine selections. The chef is so inventive. He really has an impeccable knack for putting together flavours. The menu is set up for both vegetarians and carnivores.
27- a vegetarian 32- a carnivore.
The meal starts with fresh bread and homemade butter- yep they churn it on site!
27- I had the "Sweet pea consume" followed by the "Beet and Goat cheese Ravioli" both i would recommend to any Vegetarian. the ravioli was fabulous! they replaced the pasta with beets buy slicing the beets very thin and putting the goat cheese on the inside!
32- had the "Scallops" to start. they were decadent! They are using a recipe for the sauce that includes white chocolate. One of the best chefs in the world created it and they make sure that they credit him every time they serve this dish. He followed it with the beef tenderloin. one word. Mouthwatering.
We both shared the Donuts.
The donuts are the ultimate dessert. there are four homemade donuts on a plate with 3 dipping sauces. Chocolate, Caramel, and a Creme fresh- all homemade of course
the Doughnuts this time were - a caramel stuffed, buttermilk (our fav), strawberry rhubarb and chocolate
Take a peek at their menu here first: www.braise.ca
We definatley recommend it to al that appreciate great service and sophiticated atmophere!

First blog 06/03/2010

32 and 27-- WELCOME!
This will be our first post! This blog came from a random idea during a dinner we recently had...last night at a great new place down town, which I will elaborate on in a few.... We were talking about how it would be great to be a food critic. I (27) was asking the question "How do you become one? Don't you have to have some kind of schooling or be creditable?" To which 32 said " You eat breakfast right? yYou eat out right? Then technically every time you go out and tell your friends about it you are essentially being a food critic."
I agree!
There is something to be said for a friends/other person your age's recommendation.
London is a tough city to navigate and if any of you are like me and just moved here it is very hard to find your place amongst the Retirement homes and University crowds.
That is what you will find here. Just opinions and recommendations about places to go in London.
Good luck!
